Our campaign is done, and not only did we reach our $35,000 goal, we surpassed it! 539 backers pledged $40,811, meaning we’re 116% funded. Wow!
The reason we turned to Kickstarter for crowd funding to independently release DOIN’ IT IN THE PARK: PICK-UP BASKETBALL, NYC is because there is a general belief in the film industry that sports docs, and specifically basketball ones, won’t draw at the box office. Your support so far makes a bold statement that there is a community of people who not only believe in our project, but more deeply in the power of our film’s message.
You’re not alone. Please have a look at our “Creative Journey: Screenings & Festivals” to see how audiences have responded so far:
We’ll be working diligently now to book theaters (that will accept us), screening events, and have our film available for digital download (for direct sale from doinitinthepark.com), DVD, Blu-Ray, and however else we can package it! Please stay tuned at our Facebook and Twitter for an official release date this spring, plus subscribe to our newsletter at on the sidebar.
To the entire universe of ballplayers, music lovers, film buffs, sneaker heads, family and friends who supported this campaign, THANK YOU! If you have not seen our film yet, we will not disappoint. That’s a promise :)
Love and Basketball,
Bobbito Garcia & Kevin Couliau
